COVID-19 EMERGENCY FOOD ACCESS TASK FORCE
ORGANIZATIONS WORKING TOGETHER
The Cowichan Green Community (CGC) has been leading an Emergency Food Access Task Force in response to the impact that COVID-19 is having on our emergency food system.
Many of the emergency service providers, are listed below (in alphabetical order) and on this
COVID-19 Food Resource List are represented on this ‘virtual’ task force.
These organizations are working tirelessly, with less staff and volunteers, to continue to feed those in need in the Cowichan Region. They are working together to ensure each organization has the support and specifically the food that they need each week.
You'll find the latest copy of the COVID-19 Food Resource List here.
Feel free to print and distribute where needed and share online.
REQUEST FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT
A call went out to agencies to share this request broadly, so we are doing our part and sharing this as information only. With the Cowichan Region already having one of the highest poverty rates in BC and the drastic increase in unemployment due to COVID-19, our non-profit food security organizations need your support now more than ever.
If you’re able to donate, please do.
Financial contributions are preferred over physical food donations to support the directive of staying at home and allows each organization to purchase what is needed in real time.
Rest assured, if one organization can fill a need for another (and visa versa) that is happening through consistent communications. After all, we are in this together.
Thank you for your support!
