Most of us have a vision for the future of our children, our families and our community. Creating a community vision is about bringing together the pieces that affect our lives, from income and prosperity to health and well-being and creating a common vision for our region.

We know that our social system needs to invest more time and resources into creating systemic change versus social change. We need to move from isolated responses and disconnected projects, planning and programs towards cross sector collaboration. And, most importantly, as we move forward, we must include everyone in our community in the conversation, from community members to governments, from community benefit organizations to businesses. Help us create a Social Vision for the Cowichan Region.
We need to develop healthy processes and provide skilled facilitation that encourages learning from multiple perspectives, creates new thinking and responses, and enables alignment of resources and a clear vision for collective action. To achieve this, we are producing a series of Community Snapshots that will supported by contributions from everyone who has a stake in our community.
Five Year Vision & Visions 2020
In addition to our current focus areas and through a combination of internal and external factors we have identified the following additional priorities for Social Planning Cowichan over the next 5 years: Poverty Reduction, Communications & Accessibility & Partnerships, Sustainable Funding, and Policy Development. We believe that Youth need an opportunity to help develop their community. We want to know what matters to them, and what they would like to see happening in their home. Education is the first step to helping getting youth involved. Our facilitation team works within schools to teach about our shared histories, impacts, and how we can move forward.
